Sangria

100 g sugar
2 bottles of a good red wine
cinnamoned lemon and orange slices
apple, peach and pear slices
1 cinnamon stick
1 vanilla pod
1 pinch ground nutmeg
2 measures of schnaps or hard liquor (brandy, curacao, gin).
1 bottle carbonated water
ice cubes

Put the sugar at the bottom of a large bowl. Add the wine and
sliced fruits. Add the spices (vanilla, cinnamon, etc..) Chill
and macerate a few hours, or even a day or two. Before serving
add the alcohol, water and ice cubes. Serve in sugar rimmed cocktail
glasses.
